The Art of Living Inspired

Denise Smith

Living a life inspired is truly an art.  It takes vision, knowing what you like and desire, and the consistent effort and inspired action to make it happen on a continuous basis.  Yes, it can take some planning, and some preparation to create and live that kind of elevated life…BUT…

It is most definitely worth it!  When you enhance your life in terms of what you do, what you surround yourself with, who you surround yourself with, what activities you engage in, an how you bring relaxation, luxury, soulful depth, and heartfelt connections—your life catapults from ordinary to beautifully extraordinary.  And living at your most optimal level, in your most inspired zone—that brings more meaning, enjoyment, authenticity, and joyful bliss to your every day.

So, with a glorious weekend upon us, I wanted to share some simple ideas to bring some inspired life and style to you. (Click on ANY photo to get the link to that item / destination!)

Create a patio/porch platter + Sangria

I love enjoying the outdoors, especially on the weekends. And my porch is a beautiful spot to hang out on.  I love feeling the sunshine, hearing the birds, putting on some good tunes, and enjoying some one-on-one time with my love, Jeff.  We call it “porchin’ it,” and it is one of my favorite things to do! I love to make a platter (with cured meats like salami or prosciutto, some carrots and an avocado dill dressing, olives, hearts of palms, grapes, etc. With that on a tray, I also include a fresh pitcher of ice cold sangria. It is the very best way to unwind and slow down.  You have got to try it to feel its benefits.

Make a personal spa day from home

There is nothing better than sinking into a huge bubble bath to relax and invigorate the soul.  One of my weekend pleasures is to treat myself by putting on a facial mask (whether it be clay pore cleaning, or deep moisturizing, or vitamin C based to counteract sun damage), and then to leave it on as I soak in the eucalyptus or lavender bath.  Bath salts, especially those with Epsom Salt are so good to clean away toxins and soothe sore muscles.  And don’t forget the chilled glass of Rose as you soak in all that goodness.

Take in an outdoor concert in the park:

During summer months find a local concert in the park.  Enjoy the live music, the gathering of friends outdoor sunshine (Vitamin D!), and make a picnic to call it a party! I love bringing some fresh fruit to snack on, some wine spritzers, and of course we can’t do without the chips and guacamole.  I like to bring a little portable low table for setting up the appetizers.

One of my absolute favorite concert events is the Music on the Meadows at the stunning Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, CA. The breathtaking views, delicious BBQ, and Don Julio sponsored drinks are divine! (But, no bringing in your own food and drink…)

Travel somewhere new

There is something so exhilarating about going somewhere new. Exploring a new city or destination can be the best source of inspiration.  Even if getting away for an extended time is not feasible, make a plan to go for a quick weekend getaway with your love.  It is an ideal way to expand your horizons while spending some one-on-one time together to nurture your relationship. Here are some of my faves:
